FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our dogs, puppies, adoption process, and homestead life. If you don’t see your question here, please reach out—we’re always happy to help!

About Our Dogs

Q: What breeds do you raise?
We specialize in raising Poodles and Aussiedoodles. These breeds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and family-friendly temperaments.

Q: Are your dogs health tested?
Yes! All of our parent dogs are fully health tested, including genetic panels, OFA certifications, and routine veterinary care.

Q: What are your dogs’ temperaments like?
Our dogs are social, affectionate, and versatile. Aussiedoodles tend to be playful and energetic with a love for learning, while Poodles bring elegance, loyalty, and a little extra sparkle. Together, they make fantastic family companions.

Q: Are your dogs good with kids and other animals?
Yes. Because they’re raised in a family setting, our dogs are exposed to children and other pets, so they grow up well-rounded and adaptable. But it is important that you continue extensive socialization.

Q: Do your dogs shed?
Both Poodles and F1bb Aussiedoodles are non-shedding, making them an excellent choice for families with allergies or anyone who prefers a no shed coat.

About Puppies

Q: How are your puppies raised?
Our puppies are raised in-home as part of our family. From day one, they are gently handled, introduced to household sounds, and exposed to different sights and textures. By the time they go home, they’ve begun crate training and potty training.

Q: At what age can puppies go home?
Puppies are ready for their forever homes at 8 weeks old, once they’ve had their vet checks and first vaccinations.

Q: What do puppies go home with?
Each puppy leaves with a puppy care package that includes:

  • Veterinary health record & first vaccinations

  • Deworming history

  • Starter bag of food

  • Familiar-scented blanket or toy

  • Go-home instructions & training tips

  • A written health guarantee

Q: Do you offer a health guarantee?
Yes. We provide a written health guarantee that covers genetic conditions.

Q: Will my puppy be microchipped?

Yes! All of our puppies are microchipped before going home for added safety. We remain listed as the secondary contact on the registration to help ensure your puppy can always find their way home if ever lost.

Q: Will my puppy be potty trained?
Your puppy will not be fully potty trained at 8 weeks, but we introduce them to crate training, scheduled potty breaks, and basic routines that make housebreaking much easier for you.

Q: Do you start socialization or training?
Yes. We begin early socialization with children, other animals, household noises, and beginner training basics such as crate time, exposure to leashes, and positive reinforcement.

Q: Do you recommend spaying/neutering?

Yes, we ask families to spay or neuter their puppy at an appropriate age — typically after growth plates have closed — to support long-term health and development. We believe in delayed spay/neuter for the overall well-being of the dog, and we’ll provide guidance based on your veterinarian’s recommendations unless otherwise discussed for approved breeding homes.

Q: Can I adopt two puppies from the same litter?
No — we do not place two puppies from the same litter into the same home. While it may seem like a wonderful idea to raise siblings together, research and experience show that this can create serious challenges, often referred to as “littermate syndrome.” Puppies raised together may bond more strongly with each other than with their human family, leading to behavioral issues such as separation anxiety, difficulty with training, and delayed social development. Our priority is setting every puppy up for success in their new home. For that reason, we only place one puppy per household from each litter. Families are welcome to return for a second puppy from a future litter once their first puppy is older, trained, and well-adjusted.

Adoption Process

Q: How do I reserve a puppy?
You’ll have to fill out our puppy application so we can learn more about you and your home. Once approved, you can place a deposit to hold your spot on our waiting list.

Q: How do you match puppies with families?
We help match puppies based on temperament, energy levels, and family needs rather than just appearance. This ensures the best long-term fit.

Q: Can we visit before choosing a puppy?

After the puppies receive their 6-week vaccinations, families are welcome to visit in person. Around 7 weeks of age, each puppy will be evaluated by a professional service dog trainer - Love in Lead - to assist families in finding the best match for their lifestyle and needs. In the meantime, I encourage you to join our virtual meet-and-greets and follow along with the weekly photos and videos — it’s a great way to watch the puppies grow and get to know their unique personalities before selection time.

Q: Do you offer delivery or transportation?
We prefer families to pick up in person, but safe transportation can be arranged.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and digital payment options. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to a future litter.

Q: How much do your puppies cost?
Pricing depends on breed, litter, and other factors. Please reach out directly for current pricing and availability.

Homestead Life

Q: Where are you located?
We’re located in beautiful North Carolina. Families are welcome to schedule a visit to meet us and see where the puppies are raised.

Q: What is life like for your dogs on the homestead?
Our dogs enjoy plenty of space, fresh air, and the daily rhythm of family life. They’re raised in a hands-on environment where they receive love, structure, and socialization every day.

Q: Do your dogs live in kennels?
No. Our dogs live as family members in our home. Puppies are raised inside, not in kennels or outside.

Support After Adoption

Q: Will you help with training questions after I bring my puppy home?
Yes! We provide go-home instructions and ongoing support. Whether you have questions about crate training, potty training, or nutrition, we’re just a message away.

Q: Do you recommend certain foods, treats, or toys?
Yes, we’ll provide a list of our favorite puppy-safe foods, chews, and toys that we personally use.

Q: Do you recommend professional training?

While many families do great with at-home training, professional puppy classes are a wonderful way to build confidence and reinforce obedience skills — and we’re always happy to recommend trusted local dog trainers to help you get started.

Q: Do you stay in touch with families?
Absolutely! We love receiving updates and photos from our puppy families. Many of our families stay connected long after adoption day.
